guitar restring

Restrings

  • Standard 4-6 string electric and acoustic guitar or bass: $20

  • Extended range 7-12 string electric and acoustic guitars: $25

  • Floating tremolo with locking nut 6-string instruments: $25

When do you need to change strings? If practicing for 2 hours a day on non-coated strings you will likely need to replace them once per month. But if you use coated strings and only play a few hours a week you might go 6 months without needing to change strings. If your strings feel rusty, sound dull, or no longer tune or intonate correctly, it's well past time to change strings!

Restringing an instrument includes a visual inspection of your instrument for any obvious issues, as well as minor maintenance such as light dusting and cleaning of the body, cleaning the fingerboard (and oiling if rosewood), and tightening any loose hardware.

guitar and bass setup/tune-up

Setups

  • Standard 4-6 string electric and acoustic guitar or bass: $60

  • Extended range 7-12 string electric and acoustic guitars: $75

  • Floating tremolo with locking nut setup for 6-string guitar: $75.

When does a guitar or bass need a setup? Certainly when it doesn’t feel good to play. But also when you want to change your instrument's gauge of strings, or drastically change its tuning.

If your instrument has shifted due to a weather change and just needs a truss rod adjustment, I can do that for free. Just make an appointment.

A new set of strings is not included in the price. Setups include restringing, truss rod adjustment, bridge adjustment, saddle and intonation adjustment, nut adjustment (when needed), light dusting and cleaning of the body, cleaning fingerboard (and oiling if rosewood), cleaning frets, and tightening loose hardware.

building an electric guitar from parts

Partscaster Builds

The amount of time involved with assembling a partscaster can vary widley depending on your chosen specifications. The more custom modifications involved, the longer the assembly can take. Generally speaking the labor costs can range from $300-$500. But the end result is a guitar you could never have purchesed in any store or online, your dream guitar!

If youd like a more accurate quote, you must provide as many details as possible in regard to electronics configuations and modifications. All parts must be correctly ordered by the client, and once provided to me assembly can take up to several weeks.

guitar and bass nut and saddle repair

Nut & Saddle Repair

  • Pre-fabricated nut replacement and restring without a setup: $50

  • Pre-fabricated nut replacement with a standard setup and restring: $100

There are many reasons why you may need to repair, modify, or upgrade your instrument's nut. For example, if you are switching to a significantly thicker gauge of strings. Or perhaps your instrument came with a cheap or poor-performing nut that you want replaced with a superior synthetic bone or Tusq nut. Or maybe your old nut slots are so worn down that you get fret buzz on open notes. Similarly with acoustic instruments, replacing, modifying, or upgrading your saddle can make a big difference in how it plays and sounds.
